The Diploma of Community Services (Case Management) CHC52015 provides the skills and knowledge essential to undertake case management in the community services sector. Students gain the expertise and knowledge necessary to facilitate case management, assess and analyse client needs, communicate effectively with clients and staff, and support client self-management.

The Diploma of Community Services (Case Management) provides academic pathways to a social work or social science degree with the possibility of gaining advanced standing.​ For example:

Course Entrance Requirements

There are no pre-requisites for this qualification. However, participating students are required to have a reasonable level of literacy and numeracy skills, and a moderate level of computer skills.

Charter Australia’s RTO entry requirement for this course is the satisfactory completion of year 10 or equivalent.

International students must be 18 years old and are also required to have an average IELTS score of at least 5.5, with a minimum of 5.0 for each band or equivalent.

Students will be screened at admission to ensure that they meet these entrance requirements.

Course Duration & Delivery

Duraton: 12 months (52 weeks), with the option for early completion available under the condition that all assessment material is completed.

The 52-week period that this course is run over consists:

  • 40 teaching weeks including 2 day class and 1 day work placement OR 1 day research work per week
  • 5 hours online learning per week
  • 12 weeks breaks


Classroom training will be delivered on Charter Australia’s North Sydney campus at: Level 3, 53 Walker Street, North Sydney, NSW 2060 Australia.

Work Placement

For this qualification students must have completed at least 100 hours of work placement.  For those students not already working, Charter Australia will organise a weekly work placement in one of the community service organisations.

Before undertaking any work placements, students will be required, at their own cost, to undertake a:

•    National Police Check
•    Working with Children Check
•    Health screening & any necessary vaccinations​
