Entry requirements for First Aid Certificates
- must be 18 years or older
- have the physical ability to provide resuscitation by kneeling on the floor and performing two (2) minutes of uninterrupted CPR.
- have valid USI
- provide photo ID
This course teaches the skills and knowledge required to provide a first aid response to infants, children and adults. The unit applies to educators and support staff working within an education and care setting who are required to respond to a first aid emergency, including asthmatic and anaphylactic emergencies. Charter Care recommends, in line with Australian Resuscitation Council guidelines, that first aid skills are renewed at least every three years and CPR skills every 12 months.
Please note it is a requirement of this course that you are physically capable of performing uninterrupted CPR for at least 2 minutes on a CPR manikin placed on the floor.
Educators and support staff working within an education and care setting who are required to respond to a first aid emergency, including asthmatic and anaphylactic emergencies.
There are no prerequisites for this course.
Students who successfully complete this nationally recognised training will be awarded the statement of attainment for: HLTAID012 Provide an emergency first aid response in an education and care setting.
The unit of competency includes the competency requirements of HLTAID009 Provide Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation and HLTAID010 Provide basic emergency life support and HLTAID011 Provide First Aid.
Course is delivered in a blended learning model including:
- Self-paced learning and online assessment (about 10 hours)
- 1-day practical classroom training and assessment
Students will be assessed through an online quiz, demonstration of practical skills, participation of role plays and analysis of case studies.
Note: It is a requirement of this course that practical demonstration of CPR must be performed on the adult manikin on the floor.
