HLTINF001 – Comply with infection prevention and control policies and procedures

This nationally recognised training covers a broad range of topics to enable participants to confidently respond to infection hazards that they may encounter whilst carrying out their daily duties.
Infection prevention and control is a matter of concern for every business regardless of industry sector or location and is not limited to aged care or medical industry businesses. Wherever there is a risk of infection to your staff, colleagues, customers or the public you should ensure that your staff are trained in implementing the infection control and prevention policies of your business.
Participants will learn a range of skills, including:
- Hand hygiene practices
- Effective surface cleaning
- Use of personal protective equipment
- Disposal of contaminated waste
- Hazard identification, control and reporting
- Appropriate protocols and responses in the event of an incident
- Knowledge regarding the basis of infection and transmission
A Statement of Attainment of HLTINF001 – Comply with infection prevention and control policies and procedures will be issued following successful completion of this course and can be used to seek credit transfer towards achieving an Australian Qualifications Framework (AQF) qualification.
Entry Requirements and Fees
This course is free to domestic students.
To be eligible for this training as a domestic student, you must be:
- Minimum 15 years of age or older; AND,
- An Australian citizen, Australian Permanent Resident, New Zealand citizen, or eligible Visa holder; AND,
- No longer at school; AND,
- Living or working in NSW
If you are not eligible as a domestic student, $250 fees is payable before commencement.
This delivery mode includes an online component and a practical demonstration which is completed at Charter Australia’s North Sydney campus or at your workplace.
There are online components and a practical demonstration component in this course.
The online component is self-paced and delivered via the Student Portal. It includes a Learning Activity (estimated 3-10 hours) and an assessment, Task 1 Knowledge Test (approximately 1- 2 hours).
After you have completed the Learning Activity and Task 1, you are able to confirm your booking with our trainer to do Task 2 practical demonstration in Charter Australia’s North Sydney office. The practical session may take from 1 hour up to 3 hours depending on the number of people in the session.
For a group of 10 or more participants, Charter Australia’s trainer is able to go to your workplace with required equipment to conduct the practical assessment as a group.
