Course Overview

​This course is designed for people who have completed CHC33015 Certificate III in Individual Support, therefore the students will be able to apply for credit transfer for a number of common units required by both CHC43015 Certificate IV in Ageing Support and CHC33015 Certificate III in Individual Support.

Graduates will obtain the skills and knowledge to support either their employment entry into a relevant aged care industry role or to develop their current workplace skills and knowledge for existing employment.

Course Entrance Requirements

Academic requirement

Student must have achieved the qualification of CHC33015 Certificate III in Individual Support or the same level of qualification in the community services training package.

Language Literacy and Numeracy requirements

  • Students are required to take LLN test on before being offered enrolment.
  • When a student failed to achieve the required LLN result, support options are available. Refer to Language, literacy and numeracy requirements in this document.

Age restrictions
Applicants must be 18 years of age or above

Work placement requirement

Students must be eligible to obtain the following:
• National Police check
• Working with children check (Where it is appropriate)
• Relevant immunization requirements.

Computer requirements
Student will use computer to access study materials, do research, prepare assessments, make notes and communicate with trainers, support staff and/or other students. Students are also required to bring a laptop or tablet computer while attending classes.

Assessment for the CHC43015 Certificate IV in Ageing Support include:

  • Written Task
  • Simulation
  • Workplace Assignment
  • Workplace Journal
  • Practical Demonstration

Location

Classroom training will be delivered at Charter Australia’s North Sydney campus at: Level 3, 53 Walker Street, North Sydney, NSW 2060 Australia.


Work Placement

There is no mandatory minimum hours on work placement for the UoC included in the program. However, the UoC in the program require significant amount of practice and assessment in real workplace. Charter Australia sets a minimum requirement of 40 hours of total supervised work placement. This allows sufficient time for the student to demonstrate their skills in the real workplace and be assessed on the practical components of the units of competency. Students may undertake additional work placement hours if they wish to, subject to approval from Charter Australia and the host organisation.

Before undertaking any work placements in a care facility, students are required, at their own costs to undertake:

  • National Police Check
  • Working with Children Check (where is appropriate)
  • Health screening & any necessary vaccinations

To attend work placement students are also required to wear Charter Australia’s uniform (included in the materials fees) and also have appropriate black pants and black rubber sole footwear.

2. CHCCCS006 Facilitate individual service planning and delivery (Core)
3. CHCPRP001 Develop and maintain networks and collaborative partnerships (Core)
4. CHCADV001 Facilitate the interests and rights of clients (Core)
5. CHCAGE004 Implement interventions with older people at risk (Core)
6. CHCAGE003 Coordinate services for older people (Core)
7. CHCPAL001 Deliver care services using a palliative approach (Core)

8. HLTHPS007 Administer and monitor medications (Elective)

Out of 18 required units for the qualification, this course program only delivers the above listed 8 unit of competencies. Students are expected to have achieved the other 10 unit of competency through their previous studies.

All students are offered options for undertaking any of the 10 units through Charter Australia’s CHC33015 Certificate III in Individual Support training programs if required. Additional fees will be applicable.

Charter Australia uses rolling enrolment model. Student can enrol at any week when a new unit of commencement starts.
