Course Overview

This qualification reflects the role of workers participating in the design, implementation and evaluation of leisure, health activities and programs for clients in residential facilities and/or in community agencies and day centres.

Career Opportunities

Graduates from the course will be qualified to work as a:

Pathways to Further Studies

With a CHC43415 Certificate IV in Leisure and Health qualification, graduates may choose to further their studies by undertaking a CHC53415 Diploma of Leisure and Health, offered at various other institutes.

Course Entrance Requirements

Academic requirements

There are no academic entry requirements for this qualification in the Community Services Training Package.

English Language requirements

International students are required to produce one item of evidence of English proficiency according to the following:

IELTS English language proficiency at a minimum level of 5.5 (Academic) or Upper Intermediate level of English completed in Australia
Completion of 1-year full time study in Australia
Successful completion of Language literacy and numeracy (LLN) test.

As a general rule, all domestic students must pass Language literacy and numeracy (LLN) test before being offered enrolment.

Age restrictions

Applicants must be 18 years of age or above.

Course Duration & Delivery

Self-paced online study and assessment

This course should take you a maximum of 12 months to complete. You’ll need to spend about 12 hours per week studying to complete the course within this timeframe. You are also required to complete 120 hours of work placement.

We understand that everyone learns at a different pace, so the time it takes you to finish the course will depend on how much you already know and how much experience you already have.

Location

Classroom training will be delivered at our Sydney campus:

Level 3, 53 Walker Street, North Sydney, NSW 2060 Australia.

Work Placement

For this qualification students must have completed at least 120 hours of work placement. Charter Australia organises weekly work placements for our enrolled students in a residential care facility.

Before undertaking any work placements in a care facility, students will be required, at their own cost, to undertake a:
•   National Police Check
•   Working with Children Check
•   Health screening & any necessary vaccinations

To attend work placement, students are required to wear Charter Australia’s uniform (included in the materials fees) and also appropriate black pants and black rubber sole footwear.

HLTAAP002 Confirm physical health status
HLTWHS002 Follow safe work practices for direct client care

Credit Transfer

Students with prior learning from another Registered Training Organisation based in any State/Territory of Australia may apply to have credit transferred to their Charter Australia’s program which may fast-track their studies.

RPL is an assessment process that closely evaluates the relevance of your knowledge and skills to the specific job tasks. It is not a substitute for learning – to be eligible for RPL you must have direct experience in the job role performing the tasks that make up the qualification.
