Course Overview
This course is designed for people who have completed CHC33015 Certificate III in Individual Support, therefore the students will be able to apply for credit transfer for a number of common units required by both CHC43415 Certificate IV in Leisure and Health and CHC33015 Certificate III in Individual Support.
Through this nationally-recognised course participants will learn vital skills in the design, implementation and evaluation of leisure, health activities and programs and become a recreational activity specialist in residential aged-care facilities and/or in community agencies and day centres.

Pathways to Further Studies
CHC43415 – Certificate IV in Leisure and Health provides pathways to the following qualifications with the possibility of receiving credits.
- CHC43015 Certificate IV in Ageing Support
- CHC53415 Diploma of Leisure and Health
- CHC52015 Diploma of Community Services
- HLT54115 Diploma of Nursing
Course Entrance Requirements
Academic requirement
Students who have successfully completed a CHC33015 Certificate III in Individual Support course or the same level of qualification in the community services training package.
Language Literacy and Numeracy requirements
Students are required to take LLN test on before being offered enrolment.
When a student failed to achieve the required LLN result, support options are available. Refer to Study Support under Support on Charter’s website.
Age requirement
Applicants must be 18 years of age or above.
Work placement requirement
Students must be eligible to obtain the following:
• National Police check
• Working with children check (Where it is appropriate)
• Relevant immunization requirements.
Computer requirements
Student will use computer to attend online classes, access study materials, do research, prepare assessments, make notes and communicate with trainers, Charter’s support staff and/or other students.
Course Duration & Delivery
Intake: Students can commence at anytime.
Duration: Nine (9) months enrolment period with the option for early completion under the condition that all assessments are completed.
Delivery model: Blended learning model including self-paced online study, compulsory weekly online tutorials plus work placement.
Location
Online and work placement in one of the accredited residential care facilities.
Assessment Methods
Assessment for the CHC43415 include:
- Written Task
- Case Study
- Workplace Assignment
- Projects
- Workplace Observation
Work Placement
For this qualification students must have completed at least 120 hours of work placement. Charter Australia organises work placements for our enrolled students in an accredited residential care facility.
Before undertaking any work placements in a care facility, students will be required, at their own cost, to undertake a:
• National Police Check
• Working with Children Check
• Health screening, influenza and any necessary vaccinations including Covid-19 vaccination.
To attend work placement, students are required to wear Charter Australia’s uniform (included in the materials fees) and also appropriate black pants and black rubber sole footwear.
When a student’s employment is closely related to the course, the student can apply to Charter Australia to undertake their work placement at their actual workplace subject to supervision agreement between the student’s employer and Charter Australia.

Out of 17 required units for the CHC43415 Certificate IV in Leisure and Health qualification, this course offers the following 8 core units.

- CHCLAH001 Work effectively in the leisure and health industries
- CHCLAH002 Contribute to leisure and health programming
- CHCLAH003 Participate in the planning, implementation and monitoring of individual leisure and health programs
- CHCLAH004 Participate in planning leisure and health programs for clients with complex needs
- CHCLAH005 Incorporate lifespan development and sociological concepts into leisure and health programming
- CHCPRP003 Reflect on and improve own professional practice
Note: Out of 17 required units for the qualification, this course program only delivers the above listed 8 unit of competencies. Students are expected to have achieved the other 9 unit of competency through their previous studies.
All students are offered options for undertaking any of the 9 units through Charter Australia’s CHC33015 Certificate III in Individual Support training programs if required. Additional fees will be applicable.

Credit Transfer
Students with prior learning from another Registered Training Organisation based in any State/Territory of Australia may apply to have credit transferred to their Charter Australia’s program which may fast-track their studies.

Intake Dates
Charter Australia uses rolling enrolment. Students can commence the course at the beginning of a unit of competency being delivered.
